I was giving a presentation at a Home Gain conference a few years back, Russell Shaw was speaking and he made a simple but profound point. Whether you are going to do an open house or not, does not matter. Whether you EXPLAIN to your client WHY you are not going to do an open house matters. A lot. Do you see the distinction? Sometimes we get lost in Realtorville and we lose sight of the difference.
I have been waiting for someone to MAKE the case that national sites SUCK for consumers for a long time. FINALLY someone really worked on it and wrote a compelling blog post explaining WHY consumers should go to his site versus a national lead generation site. Check it out HERE.
The writing is clear. It makes sense to almost anyone reading it WHY they should look for his SeattleHome.com site or any other local REALTOR site over the aggregators.
So I guess my recommendation is that REALTORS all across the country go and do likewise. Figure out WHY people should visit your site vs the big boys. Don’t be shy. They put their pants on one leg at a time too. Stand up to them and explain the WHY of it.
