Also known as the “premier American art gallery in the south”, the Greenville County Museum of Art (GCMA) is a treasure that is hard to miss. They have everything from contemporary abstractions to federal portraits. With most of its art being tied with the south, the GCMA invites visitors to step back into America’s past through American art history.
There are both permanent and traveling exhibitions at this beautiful place. Best known for having the world’s largest collection of watercolors by the famous American artist Andrew Wyeth, the GCMA stands out. Other iconic work from artists like Jasper Johns and Edmound Lewandowski are there as well.
The GCMA is located at 420 College Street and admission is free of charge. Hours are Wednesday-Saturday 10am-6pm and Sundays from 1pm-5pm. Guided tours of groups of 10 or more must be scheduled three weeks in advance but are free of charge. Come and enjoy the collections and exhibits at the Greenville Country Museum of Art!
